Found this one in change yesterday, thought it looked pretty great so I put it in a bag (I'm out of holders for the time being) however I've noticed it has a thumb print, so I'm curious if I should clean it or just put it in a holder and do nothing more. Also , what kind of gloves do you guys use when handling coins?

Some may say to give it a dip in acetone, but the fingerprint is there to stay.

no gloves, just wash your hands and avoid touching the face of the coin.

Maybe you could lift the fingerprint and send it to the FBI. Then you might find out who the dummy was who fingered the coin. I wouldn't try to clean it.

You can't clean a fingerprint off without ruining the coin...and I wash my hands before searching, handle by the edges. If I find a nice BU coin I want to keep, I'll give it a rinse in acetone.

Quick dip in acetone then a good air dry and then in the holder. John1

Only fresh fingerprints can be removed without damaging the surfaces. Not worth the effort because these are cheap and abundant in full red BU without finger prints. Just get a new one if you don't like it.

The only thing I don't like about that coin is you got it in change not I. The print is etched into the surface and there's nothing that can be done about it at this point. It's really not all that distracting, though, as far as prints go, and I can certainly live with it. Nice coin.

Great coin. This is my birth year. Had to buy one to put my set together. What a find. I wouldn't do anything to it. Big Ed

I went through all the coins I've saved back and I've also got a '57 in similar condition.
