priced around 2400$, for 1 kg, at 999 mintage, a bit expensive but with the popularity of our maple leaf 1 OZ, this should go way up....what do you all think about that price, it would probably never loose its value, what do you all think...

i am tempted on getting 1

.
My calculation is that 1kg of Gold is 32.15075 Troy Oz.
That will equate to $1,535 per TrOz * 32.15 = $49,351.40 at this mornings price.
So whoever is trying to ofload a 1 KG pure Gold piece for a mere $2,400 is setting off huge alarm bells in my head.
At that price, I will take it all

I think the coin is going to be our first 1kg SILVER maple. ;-)

Judging by the current price of silver that would be about 1200$ worth. :P

The mint seems to shoot for a 100% markup on it's bullion, so that's right in
line with the usual. I remember falling in love with a beautiful 1kg proof Libertad at the 2009 RCNA show, but being offended by the $1500 price tag. My, how things change in a couple years.

With a name like "maple leaf forever" and tri-maple leaf design taken from the penny, makes one wonder if this coin is RCM's way of saying the penny's here to stay for good (or prematurely commemorating its loss)

Sold out of a 999 mintage (quite high for such a high-value item)

Bullion coins will always be treated as such by dealers purchasing them back (except for the true rarities). So, people are taking a 50% loss right away and looking at needing a doubling of the price of silver to break even. A dumb investment that could at least be partially justified by a normal numismatic work of art. While this one is rather deliberately pedestrian.

Trying to get numismatic margins from a bullion offering is bad news. The mint should be happy with a nice markup for a flow through of precious metals, and not gouge like this.

yea! I know what your talking about but, the dealers are selling these at high prices too, looks like they are selling them, they should put a clear line between bullion on coins...but in my book they are all the same...LOL, I love them all...

at ~$70/oz for this kilo silver coin, it's not too far away from privy marked silver maple leafs. Though it's true that bullion dealers will not pay more than silver value, there's always still the slower option of selling on ebay

Got mine this week! A real beauty and my first kilo silver coin, so was pleasantly surprised by the size. Have a bit of an issue with the capsule, but otherwise the coin is rather impressive.

Pictures to come.
