Specifications Composition: 99.99% pure silver Finish: proof with selective gold plating Weight (g): 62.41 Diameter (mm): 60 Edge: serrated Certificate: serialized Face value: 25 dollars Artist: Detailed Toronto city map based on Google Earthâ„¢ satellite mapping (reverse), Susanna Blunt (obverse) Highlights: Featuring a stunning bird's-eye relief view of one of Canada's great cities, this 60 mm silver coin combines exciting new technologies in both cartography and minting with the proven, centuries-old tradition of finely minted collectible coins. Coin design: Alive with microscopic three-dimensional detail, the coin presents a dynamic aerial portrait of Toronto as if zooming-in from space--the rounded, magnified image reminiscent of an astronaut's visor. Mintage = 7,500 Price = $179.95 I love how its design is ripped right out of Google Earth. Wonder though, if this will continue with other cities. Can't imagine Vancouver, Montreal, and other left out.

What's your thoughts on this one? Relatively low mintage, a first for the mint, but oddly the number of coins per customer is not limited.

Ordered one on line last nite...Very modern...no moose, loons or bears on this baby..a welcomed side step for the mint.

This coin has me mixed. It has elements that I like and at the same time I'm not sure how to take it. It looks as artificial as any other coin.
$180 is a lot of moolah.
There's way more to Toronto than just the downtown core and tall buildings. When is there going to be a raccoon coin?

Libertad...... I understand where your comming from...When I first saw it ...I said SAY WHAT...a map..But the more I looked at it ...and could see how it could have a 3D appearance in hand...I said what the hey and ordered...$180 bucks...Most 1oz silver mint coins sell for $100 so I don't think it's over Priced for 2oz

I'm amazed they chose Toronto. The rest of Canada usually sits around fuming about us. And Ottawa has made ignoring Toronto an art form.
That is a BIG coin: 60mm
Now I know what the deal was with that huge case the Ladybug coin came in.

Is the arrow pointing at the court building or the Simpsons Tower?

dialog_gvf...they still do ignore Toronto! The Only reason it is on the coin is because that is where most of the money is in Canada.

Old City Hall.
The point is just north of Queen St. and just east of Bay St.
Just west is Nathan Philips Square (which can be seen with the coin in hand)

I live downtown, so it is kind of cool to see my building on the coin. :)
But, it's already inaccurate because of the massive amount of building happening even in the region shown on the coin. There are something like 125 buildings, 20 storeys and over, under construction in the entire city.
