I went to friends coin shop on my way from the bank and found this. I just though you folk would like to check it out

Okay, I need some more education on this one. Took a while, but I finally noticed the difference on the Rev. Can't see any difference on the Obv. between a proof and one coined for circulation. Since the coin you displayed has seen some wear and proofs were coined in Philly that year, how can one tell it's not a proof that found its way into circulation

I do not, but a very trusted dealer friend of mind show this to me,after I ask him to go thur a 2 pound sack of silver coin and this is one he found it has been in a safety depot box for 3 years .
I will see him next week and go more info,I was Hoping that someone here knew about this coin its in the cherry picker book that I want for Xmas!

Here are the comparisons for the type B Proof Reverse

The type A circulation Reverse is a low relief the ES almost touch and the adjacent leaf extends only to the top arrow point,,

on the type B the relief is higher and the ES are apart the adjacent leaf extends above the top arrow point.

these type B reverse coins can be found on coins from 1956-64 .

This info is from Walter Breens encyclopedia of US coins.


Based on these descriptors, the pictured coin is a type B Reverse.

thank metalman I had this coin for about 3-4 year and the owner Alabama coin and silver here in huntsville told me that about this coin and I could not remember how to tell more about it
