I collect them, but kind of as a default. For the past few years, I have bought mont and proof sets for my albums. After opening them, I would have them left over, if I didn't just buy the album. I still end up with an odd Proof when I break open my silver proof set, each year. I put them in 2x2's along with the extra Lincoln, and Jefferson, and then I still have the enjoyment of searching for the circulated Ps and Ds.

I have a date set of proofs. Didn't like them at first when I was using them at the train station. But they've grown on me, especially with the NA reverses.

I just ordered a 2008-D satin proof, can anyone explain how they differ from a regular proof? Are they sandblasted? Sorry for the stupid question but I coulndt find anything on google

Sandblasted yes, but they don't have the mirror-like background regular proofs have; they basically look like uncirculated coins. Its usually referred more often as "satin finish". That's probably why you got a little confused. Oh, and satin finish coins (until 2010) came in the annual uncirculated sets.

I'm not interested in collecting a coin if I can't see the date and mm in an album.

Its not sand blasted, but a high pressure water blasting. No abrasives. Its the same thing they are doing to the collectors pucks.
We collect them, along with the presidential. I'm not super fond of them, but its a coin, so I collect it.

Like a few other I collect the proofs basically because I had them left over from the proof sets. I have been thinking of going back and putting together a set of P & D's just because they are kinda cheap. I also wish they had left the mint mark alone!

I only collect the ones that comes in my 4 proof sets I order each year. I do have a few rolls that my grandfather used to go buy from the bank when they were minted for circulation and you could just go to the bank and pick up rolls of them, every month he would send me to get $100.00 worth for him
