how do they put the west point dimes in slabs?
(do they cut it out of the plastic and put it in?

Send them in to be graded. They remove them and submit them.

It's just like any other coin. You an submit in mint packaging, or just cut it out yourself.

Who do you want to certify it? PCGS (got to be a member), NGC (got to be a member), ANACS (no membership to submit)? Look up their respective services and see what fits your needs the best. I believe that you could have it sent to one of the TPG companies through a coin dealer.

I don't believe that the 96-W is worth slabbing though. I got mine relatively cheap (pre-slabbed, did not have to pay for the service).
