I've been generally 3 or 4 points over, except for this coin where I was 8 or so under :) I did read the guide on the site, but I shall have to do some more reading on this North American system. Needless to say, you are a lot harsher (but fair) than most ebayers that are selling :))

This coin is no more than EF-40, take a look at just above the ear, slight wear there. Take a good look at your Charlton grading guide,(the bible of grading coin from Canada)..

Many thanks. I shall read and digest :) As for Charlton. I was thinking Bobby, Jackie or Athletic :))

Wow, Bobby, Jackie and Charlton Athletic that goes back a bit, havent heard those names in awhile, at least since 1966 world cup. I was a Leeds fan myself...

Fine team Leeds then. Although I wasn't a fan I could probably name most of the team of that era.

It won't escape EF. I've owned many AU examples in the past of this coin and they were clearly more detailed and mint lustre was still evident in protected areas. Still a very nice coin.

As I said before, I have found this a very useful exercise in the North American grading system. One thing stands out though and that is you all seem very face (obverse) orientated. At least two of these coins have had in my mind much superior rears. This is in no way a criticism as I have gained a great deal from your expertise, just an observation.

"rears" are just as important as "faces", however the obverse typically has more detail and "depth" to it. What I mean by depth is the varying heighth of the details. This will show the wear pattern better then the reverse which typically only has letters and numbers. Both sides of a coin have a story to tell, its just the obverse has more to say usually.

The last sentence of your post pretty much sums up coin grading (in my opinion). Well said!
