I have acquired this coin, but can't identify, it's 17mm round, under 1 mm thick, gold coloured,& looks like a sovereign.dated 1911

That is a little small for a half sovereign (19.3mm) and it looks a little crude. It might be a jewelry imitation of a sovereign/half sovereign? BTW a real half weighs 3.994 grams what does yours weigh?

thanks for your input, you may well be correct, I certainly can't find any reference to this anywhere.I am a volounteer for a childrens charity & I get a lot of coins handed in, 99% I can identify, but this stumped me.Will have to get it checked for gold content,may just be junk. thank you again.

It's either a "jewellery replica" of a sovereign, or maybe even a piece of play money. A gold test would determine the difference - if it's gold, then a jewellery replica - if it's brass, then it's play money.

You can tell it is a fake by the detail around the edges , I'm sure it is a fake as even the the detail on the bottom image is abit strange
