Any idea why it was circulated?

Probably a pocket piece once, I did that with an ASE for a while.

What's a good price for 1/10 ounce silver onzas? I saw a bunch for $6 at a flea market the other day and almost bought them.

Depends on the years. Some years they only make a few thousand. I didn't see any on ebay. I would have bought them all. I see them sell for $12-$18 sometimes.

I think they were 2011. They looked BU. I'll get them next time I go.

GTALLEN, this piece came from the jungles of Souther Mexico via an indigenous fella that I know. His grandmother gave it to him. Now, from what I have seen, I'm betting that he had some fun with it when he was a kid and maybe these are ciruclated way out there in the sticks. There are some doozie of a rim-dings on it and "bag marks" do NOT look like they were made with common circulating coinage. I have seen other circulated onzas...even much older ones, but this one has really been put through it's paces...never seen anything like it in that respect.

GTALLENAwesome Libertad collection! I was glad to see you have the "peso fuerte" and cap & rays 8 Reales. You should get the famous "caballito" it would make a fabulous addition to any Mexican coin collection. I collect the libertads for the same reasons you do and the low mintages, beautiful design, same size as ASE's and great quality unlike the maple leafs which I dropped out of because of the constant "milk spotting" issue. Quote: I am lacking one of the very low mintage ones and some I just have not purchased yet. Let me guess.... 1998? I am only missing the 2011 for my set, I've just been procrastinating and too cheap to pay the $50+ for it but I'll get around to it one of these days. I remember when the 1998's were going for 60 to 80 and now I can't believe the price it's going for! I was very lucky and picked mine up for melt last year because I bought a partial set of Libertads. Quote: Does any one know what the mintage is for the 2011 2 oz BU Libertad? Sorry, I haven't seen any figures for the 2011 yet, in my past experience that info isn't released until a couple of years after. LibertadQuote: hoard = provision I know thats probably what the online translators say but I doubt it if any native spanish speaker much less Mexican would know what "provision" is. Most people just use "monton" or "apilo" when talking about a hoard.

I found several gold 2.5 peso coins lately for melt. These are a steal compared to AGEs or Maples, plus they're selling at a decent premium on ebay. Should I keep buying these or try something else?

Here is my huge hunk of Mexican silver. I bought this coin at the Bank of Mexico Mexico city in 2003 Thought it would make a nice ornament for the mantel. I think its one of the rare ones with a mintage of only 465 can anyone confirm this? 2003 5oz proof

I just started kicking my Mexico type set into gear. Gonna be a lot of fun. I hope to add a lot of pieces at the PNNA show this fall.
Love the bullion. Other than about 20 1 ouncers I have a 1/20th and a 2 ounce. I love the 2 ounce coins. so awesome.

I have been trying some good examples of the Caballito for my collection..There are not a lot of decent deals on them. They are either very worn or priced way high.
