His grandmother gave it to him. Now, from what I have seen, I'm betting that he had some fun with it when he was a kid and maybe these are ciruclated way out there in the sticks. There are some doozie of a rim-dings on it and "bag marks" do NOT look like they were made with common circulating coinage. I have seen other circulated onzas...even much older ones, but this one has really been put through it's paces...never seen anything like it in that respect. Report this Post to the Staff

You should get the famous "caballito" it would make a fabulous addition to any Mexican coin collection. I collect the libertads for the same reasons you do and the low mintages, beautiful design, same size as ASE's and great quality unlike the maple leafs which I dropped out of because of the constant "milk spotting" issue. I bought this coin at the Bank of Mexico Mexico city in 2003 Thought it would make a nice ornament for the mantel. I hope to add a lot of pieces at the PNNA show this fall. Love the bullion. Other than about 20 1 ouncers I have a 1/20th and a 2 ounce. I love the 2 ounce coins. so awesome.
