Quote: The maximum sets made for the 2006 Anniversary set was 250,000. They sold out in a matter of days. I anticipate the Mint's website to crash yet again on the afternoon of the 27th, a repeat of NP1 on April 28th.
... ... ..... Jumpin' GeeHoosaphats ! ....... So, with "THIS" Set.....we have " FIVE" Eagles and only 100,000 minted. And with the 2006 Set......we had only " Three" Eagles and there were 250,000 minted ? LESS THAN "HALF" OF THE MINTAGE IN COMPARISON YET THERE ARE "MORE" COINS ?(And "this" Set will include Frisco Eagles, where as the '06 one just had the Reverse Proof as it's centerpiece ! .... ##@!#**^&%%##) HOLY MACKERAL ! I'm definately going to have to help "crash the website" I believe !......

The 2006 20th anniversary Silver Eagle set had a production limit of 250,000 and was a sell out. I would expect the two unique coins in this set to have long term values around the same as the 2006 reverse proof coin, about $200 each in MS/PR69 condition and perhaps double that in MS/PR70. I don't think that the 100,000 mintage vs. the 250,000 for the 2006 will have a great effect on long term value.

Quote: And we all know that the Home Shopping Network and all of those other private coin companies will be buying THOUSANDS OF THESE SETS ! With a mint-imposed household limit of 5 sets, how exactly are they going to buy thousands of sets? It's my understanding that there are sold to the general public, not the mint's "Authorized Purchasers". Just curious.

They contract out to groups to buy sets and sell them back to them...they will get a LOT of sets

Called the mint today. They said pricing won't be determined until Friday at the soonest, more likely Monday if silver isn't stable for the week.

Do they realize that silver is EXACTLY where it was at the beginning of October?
Not really a big mover of late....
SO what is the big deal if it goes up a buck? That would be a whopping $5 om a set of 5 coins....
They should get ballsy and just put a price out there....

$5 x 100,000 pays a few salaries.

Quote: $5 x 100,000 pays a few salaries. Yes it does...point being: come up with a price based on silver where it has been for a month and add $5/set to cover all those salaries.. Just take the plunge and come up with a price...

Actually it was only one month ago that silver was over $39. By next Tuesday, that one month peak drops under $34 and the mint should not have any problem setting a price in the $300 neighborhood. Currently, five uncirculated Eagles would cost ~$255 and five proof Eagles would be ~$295. While I am hoping for a price under $300, the mint's history of pricing sets above the sum of the individual coin prices may well come into play.

TripAces; you are not going to be alone in logging in early, and those who are "in the know" will not wait til high-noon to try and get in.
Wait for it...then the Mint's system crashes!

You won't be ahead of anyone but if you wait until 1201p you probably won't be able to get in at all. Log in at 1130a, refresh every 5 min. or so (Mint has an inactivity timeout of 15 min) and right at noon the "add to cart" should become active... Now the fun starts....it will be a prolonged wait for each of the following steps (assuming you do not time out in the process and also assuming that the Mint website doesn't crash). It will seem like an eternity but you should (fingers crossed) see an order confirmation number as your end step. If you do time out, good luck in getting back to start over again....it is a royal PIA.... It's an adventure well worth taking....

Yep, login early. I did so for NP1 and it took 45-50 minutes just to get through the check process for one coin. The first two hours after 12 noon next Thursday should be a similar headache. Just be patient and refresh often. Take a long lunch break or better yet, take the day off.

Sometimes. the website will log you out right at noon EST is you are logged in and waiting. This happened to me a couple times. Just be patient, have your login info up in a text window so you can cut & paste and enjoy the day. I firmly believe that virtually everyone that wants this set will get through eventually, in fact after the first two hours or so, the website will probably calm down and it will be easy. For me, trying to be one of the first is part of the fun, even if it is a pain. I wish we knew if the set will be in a sealed package in itself so we can order five sets at once or if we will have to place five one set orders to get individually sealed packages since I plan to keep and open one set for my own enjoyment and tuck the rest away as investment pieces. Of course, if prices take off I might go ahead and get any extra sets graded, hoping to put an MS/PR70 set together. I think that the percentage of sets that individually grade out at 70 might be higher than normal since the mint made it clear that all of the coins in the set (even the bullion coin) were produced specifically for use in the set and since two of the coins come from the SF mint, long the producer of mint proofs, including the first proof SAEs, we may see some of the best quality to come out of the mint in some time. I will probably wait to slab any coins until I see what the percentages of perfect coins really is and if it is high enough I will send sets in one at a time for grading. It would be really cool to have a set that graded at all 70s (which you could prove with TPG paperwork). Such a beast would probably pay for most of the other coins.
