Help With Patina Photos

Hi guys. So I have a real problem with being able to show the patina on coins. Heres an example picture. I had to adjust all the darn tints and contrasts just to even make it look like the coins arnt totally crap. At my disposal I have a camera phone and a scanner, but the phone tends to just show coins as a bright white blob.

But believe it or not all 3 of these coins have AMAZING rainbow patina on the whole coin both sides. Instead they just look like black blobs :(.

PLEASE HELP :(

Are those images scans? If so, then that is your problem- scanners are not capable of capturing realistic toning coloration on coins.

The only easily-accessible method of illustrating color is axial lighting (search this forum for discussions). I don't believe that will be possible with your equipment.
