Great additions David. Congratulations!
The Missouri looks great... Even better in your photos than on ebay.

Your set is so close to being finished!

I somehow missed your updates over the past week, so it's time to catch up!

I have to say, I've never seen a Norse medal in such a worn state. That pocket piece clearly traveled many miles over its "lifetime!" I wonder if it was alone on its journey or if it had other classic coins that were special to their owner riding along!

I can tell from the detail remaining on your New Rochelle and Arkansas-Robinson additions that they are only taking a temporary position in your set. I'm sure you'll continue to hunt for downgrades for each of them! I know you'll never stop with an AU!

Hope the Missouri works out for you. You, better than anyone, know that PCGS can be a bit unpredictable when it comes to low grade coins and their potential mishandling. I hope they, like you, consider the hairlines the result of honest circulation.

Good stuff! It's been great watching your set develop over time. Almost makes me want to start...No, I'm not going there! There's too much commemorative ephemera out there for me first!

Keep 'em coming!

Two graded circs to go. That's great. Hopefully the Robinson will come back less than MS. I had an Arkansas with what I thought was more wear on the Eagles breast and it came back as MS63. Go figure that one. Now the hunt for the York.

Just saw this on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/141386784223
Thought it might interest some of you circulated commem. fans. Not sure if the date is readable at all.

That is one worn Columbian!

Let the bidding "frenzy" begin!

Appreciate the heads up on the Columbian ... interesting that it is listed on the Bay in the category of US Seated Liberty half dollars.

No interest on my behalf as the coin is obviously well worn but not specifically identifiable ... not date implies no way to identify this two year type coin ... such is the challenge of low-ball hunting.

Thanks for the sharing support!

David

If the Mint would have just stopped with the 92's this would have been a perfect PO01. Also if this was a one year commem it would have the highest population of PO01's.

Doesn't look like there's much of a frenzy- still under $8.

Posting an update on the coins shared on Page 21 ... the PCGS wizards views are as follows ...

The Norse (thick) medal was judged to be FR-Details cleaned. I refuse to believe that as long-term pocket pieces always have bright surfaces ... and this Norse was without a doubt a pocket piece. Will likely re-submit.

The AU55 New Rochelle upon re-submittal was properly graded at PCGS XF45. Pleased that they got this one correct ... it is the grade that I assigned when I first viewed the coin.

My Arkansas-Robinson was properly graded at PCGS AU55 ... I expected that and still thrilled to have this rare circulated coin in my set. Hopeful for a someday rare downgrade.

The Missouri was graded PCGS AG03 ... a nice downgrade from my G06 example and somewhat disappointing as I expected an FR02 grade.

Truly enjoying the hunt for these difficult circulated coins ... the numismatic challenge of finding these feeds my collecting spirit.

To close ... My PCGS Registry Set of circulated classic silver commemorative is now 98% complete ...

Hopeful to someday join my friend Not-Mint-To-Be as the only dedicated collectors to complete the set.

Enjoy

David

Writing to share a significant downgrade of a very rare coin ... the 1925 Fort Vancouver half dollar.

The circulated example I shared in commems ongoing 'days of' thread was certified at PCGS VF25.

The current PCGS lowball of this difficult to find circulated coin is AG03 ... believe this example can meet that or perhaps even go lower at FR02.

Update-#4---Completed-Circulated-Classic-Silver-Commemorative-Type-Set

Original, honest surfaces. Some rim damage on the reverse is noted.

I believe the PCGS wizards will certify this coin ... a lovely downgrade to my circulated set.

I have a strong feeling that you will beat my AG03 with this one. These pocketpieces are still out there. I wonder which one will show up next?

Writing to share what is hopefully a nice downgrade for my set - I've had a PCGS VF30 Alabama in my circulated collection since November 2012 ...

Finally found what I believe should certify as a nice downgrade ... albeit no where close to the current true lowballs.

1921 Alabama Centennial Half Dollar - G06 (Raw)

Update-#4---Completed-Circulated-Classic-Silver-Commemorative-Type-Set

In hand somewhat 'bright' surfaces but original. The coin will be included in my next submittal to PCGS for the wizards views.

Anyone who read my 'circulated commemorative' contribution to commems 'Days Of' thread understands my feelings towards the wizards ability to assign proper technical grades to these seldom seen coins ...

This could potentially come back anywhere from AG03 to VF20 ... cleaned! LOL
