Very nice! I am interested in doing a type album of these but with all the coins having some sort of circulation cameo sort of look. Seems it would be a much harder task since looking at ebay the only ones I see really with looks that I like are Monroe Doctrines, Bookers, and Columbian Expos...

Wonderful lowball nickelsearcher! That is one worn out Monroe!

I'd like to play devil's advocate for a moment regarding your observation that "The legend IGWT in the left field [on the obverse] is of higher relief than the conjoined Presidential busts."

Could it be that the IGWT inscription is actually either presented in the same or lower relief as the conjoined portraits but that it benefits from the protection offered by the coin's higher rim? Then, once the rim wears down, the lower relief inscription is subject to strong wear due to it being in the coin's open field. This would, I think, explain how it is completely rubbed off on your example while some of the detail of the higher relief portraits remains.

Of course, I could be wrong!

Your classic commemoratives really are a prize. I think I would rather have a complete set of those than a set of $2.50 Indian Heads in the same condition. I have a feeling those classic commemoratives will really appreciate if you can buy them in really fine condition and just hold them.

It required a frustrating 63 business days for the PCGS wizards to render their opinions on my most recent submittal .... but at the end of the (long) day they at least got this one correct ....

Update-#4---Completed-Circulated-Classic-Silver-Commemorative-Type-Set

There are four PCGS FR02 examples as the current lowball.

Congrats on having the folks at PCGS concur with the grade you assigned to the coin (a few pages back) before you sent it in -- I know that you and PCGS do not always agree!

Even with all of the wear, it is still easy to recognize the portrait as that of Lincoln -- something to be said for Morgan's work on the coin.

I truly appreciate you thinking of me in the quest for these rare and lovely coins.

While indeed a well worn example ... the coin is not certifiable as an honest lowball ... which requires an exact determination of the type, date and mint mark.

The Columbian Exposition half dollar was issued in two years ... and the date was carried on the reverse.

No way to tell the date on this example ... hence it has achieved a level lower than PO01 ... basal state ... and of no value other than an interesting curiosity.

I am almost positive that that exact Columbian has been discussed here previously. I'm serious when I say that certain marks/scratches on it seem familiar to me!
