Indeed ... that hole is waiting for a P01 Spanish Trail ... which I have been told by a friendly expert is 'out there somewhere'.

I know you have the lowest ever graded example at AU53 ... do you have some good news to share relative to your quest?

I now have the lowest and 2nd lowest PCGS graded Spanish Trail. The "highest" grade in my Lowball set is now a XF40 Cincinnati.

Congratulations Bob ... your PCGS VF30 Spanish Trail is a world-class coin to add to your already museum quality low-ball set.

Curious how you found it ... must have been raw ... tell us the story please.

You must be justifiably proud of this coin and I salute again your dedication to achieve what seems to me an impossible quest ... a complete 50-coin circulated type set of these fabulous coins.

I'm still on the chase ... and will get there someday.

The latest Spanish Trail was found ,raw, at a show. There will always be another one lower out there somewhere they just have to find the light of day. Hopefully they don't end up in a melting pot as junk.

LOL ... it will never be finished ... there is always a better coin out there ... in the case of this set a lower coin.

The joy of collecting is the thrill of the hunt ... always enjoyable and always fun.

Sigh! that's what I was afraid of,I thought my interest in collecting would fade but it keeps coming back. I guess I was hoping for some grand sense of accomplishment but from what I hear when you complete a set you just brake it down and start a new one. So here's to a never ending life long hobby. I'll be keeping an eye out for the most circulated classic commems for ya.

Pleased to share with all of you my latest 'downgrade' to the set ... an honestly circulated pocket-piece 1924 Huguenot-Walloon half dollar.

I grade the coin as AG03 ... but given the state of wear on the reverse I can be convinced it is actually lower.

Update-#4---Completed-Circulated-Classic-Silver-Commemorative-Type-Set

This coin was for many, many, many years somebody's favorite pocket piece. In addition to the obvious wear the surfaces are smooth and bright polished ... but yet original and un-cleaned.

Wish I could 'hear' the story of the original owner who carried this every day for so long ... another wonderful example of USA coinage history ... and the thrill of discovery that keeps me searching for them.

I have updated my slide show ... hoping you take 2 minutes to view it ...

Enjoy

I am thrilled to report the addition of three new coins to the circulated set ... photos coming right up.

All three were acquired from a dedicated collector who has assembled over a lifetime the greatest set of circulated classic commemorative ever known. He is a current CCF member who shall remain un-named by me ... he can choose to self identify if wished. My Many Thanks for the coins and support.

1925-S California

Some of you may recall my unfortunate encounter with the counterfeit California that was in my set for awhile.

https://goccf.com/t/105813&SearchTe...ckelsearcher

That hole has now been filled with an honestly circulated, genuine, example that I believe was carried as someones pocket piece. Surfaces are original, but 'bright' in hand, evidence to me of pocket polishing.

I grade VG10 ... PCGS has certified 26 total examples below AU so this coin is not that tough to find circulated in the market.

Update-#4---Completed-Circulated-Classic-Silver-Commemorative-Type-Set

1936 Albany

This is a tough coin to find in circulated condition. My set contained an example that I grade XF45. Pleased to 'downgrade' to this lovely coin ... broken out of a PCGS VF25 holder. This was the 2nd lowest graded Albany ever certified by PCGS.

Now happily raw in my Dansco 7094.

Update-#4---Completed-Circulated-Classic-Silver-Commemorative-Type-Set

1935 Spanish Trail

Indeed .... the impossible coin ... and the showstopper for anyone trying to assemble a complete circulated set.

The 'experts' at PCGS must have been smoking something when they graded this coin at AU53. In hand I grade XF40 ... maybe XF45 at best. At the time, this was the lowest graded coin ever certified by PCGS.

Update-#4---Completed-Circulated-Classic-Silver-Commemorative-Type-Set

Now down to 6 holes in my circulated set.

Many of you have very generously kept an eye out for me ... and sent along links to coins for my consideration. Many of the coins in this set came from your 'eyes'. My sincere Thank You to everyone who has contributed ... I appreciate your help.

My Want List is current ...

And I have updated my slideshow for those interested in viewing the coins as a set ...

Enjoy

Such a great set to assemble and these three are also fine examples of circulated coins. Good luck on your search for the final six.
