I have found this site very useful in the past for varieties and general information.

To my way of thinking, nickel dollars are perhaps one of the most important sleepers of all time, I grab all and everyone I can get my hands on, it seems nobody wants them not even banks.
Maybe someday someone (maybe me) will make an in depth study of them and list all of the varieties that must be available and waiting to be found.
In the meantime here are some to keep an eye out for.
1968= 4 varieties (more no doubt still to come)
1974= 4 varieties (more no doubt still to come)
1982= 3 varieties (more no doubt still to come)
Only issued for circulation during 1968 to 1987 they make a good specialty series..

I am currently working with Bill Cross on a future Charlton Standard catalogue will have nickel dollar varieties in the back. I welcome your research though, because another set of eyes will see something different.

This series is just as challenging, if not more, than silver dollars to find gem business strikes. A very large, hard, heavy coin, with very low mintages. Coins in MS-65 condition are generally 'grade-rarities' (1968, 1973, and 1982 constitution dollar are the exceptions - they are easy to find in MS-65 grades). The joy has been the thrill the of hunt, because you can acquire this set in MS-64 grades very cheaply, even in dealer's junk bins!

This set represents six years of active hunting, online, at coins shows and dealer shops across Canada. Someday, I should take good photos of these coins. Here it is, with at least 7 upgrades ready to submit to PCGS.

There are endless varieties of the nickel dollars. I found it futile to try and get everyone listed, so I'm happy with my 1968-1987 collection.

It is hard to believe the nickel Loonie outlasted the Nickel Dollar. I guess the nickel Loonie is coming to an end soon though.
