So does anyone else think the new proof set is a rip off?
Higher price, higher mintage , and no silver penny(like last years) I dont see how they are coming up with 229 dollars for a set when the price for collecting proof sets use to be a fair cost

Makes perfect sense to me. They lost tones of money last year. Did you hear of the Royal Canadian Mint blunder that cost the mint at least $10 million in lost gold. http://www.ipolitics.ca/2011/03/28/...ing-blunder/Not to mention all the performance bonuses for the great sales year they had last year. Don't forget performance bonuses at the Mint are not based on actual performance, but on profit generated. I have a hard time justifying the new coin prices and have scaled back my purchases so far this year. By this time last year I had already qualified for Master Club status. I think it will take a little longer this year.

Last year I bought my silver proof loon dollar for a shade under $25. I got it from one of the first cracked set listings which was before, I guess, some people realized that they were pure silver. I would say that $30 is around the fair "dust settled" price for the 2013....although like was said, to obtain one this year you may have to be after the set becomes a dud and buy the set or after those cracking them open are able to purchase their sets at a lower price.

Talisman coins has the silver proof set for $209.95 - $20 cheaper than RCM. Usually they list their Canadian NCLT at the same or slightly higher than the mint itself.

Gatewest is selling the first coin of the O Canada subscription with the large case for the same price as just the coin itself. So $39.95 with or without the case. If you subscribe with the RCM, the large case will be not be shipped until the purchase of coin #3.

There is no description on the item so I wonder if this is the subscription and you're actually ordering all 12 coins? Noticed that C/A is selling the subscription but they ship the coins three at a time every three months to reduce the shipping costs.

There is no images, but really, the Gatewest sells Inukshuk coin separately, or in "big case" for $39.00 **Low stock on this item
What the case could be useful for?

I purchased the 1/25 oz gold coin. I have all the 1/25 oz coins so would have bought it anyway but in this particular instance, I thought the owl shaman design was very nice.
I wish I could afford the Jacques Cartier coin but then I don't have last year's Viking coin.
