I have a 1796/7 (I am not sure of the date as a coin detailed in a museum and on a history of the East India Company have different dates. Museum 1796, East India Company 1797) It is a 1 Pice. 7.1g 28mm I can find valuations for Half pice and 1 pice 1820s and above. The one in the museum and the East India Company History as KM#53 number, but I have no idea what that means unless it is the grading.   |

Tracyaw, the first picture seems upside down.
I don't think you have the 1795 one. It looks more like a 1829 / 1831 pice. For earlier coins the first picture shold be different.

Hi Bdahab. Yes lol I did not take notice when I photographed it.
I did come across the 1820+ coins but could not find same weight, all the Bengali writing looks the same on all coins of this weight and mm. Anyway both are only valued at a few quid, not much difference in valuation. The 1820+ appear to have a raised rim.
Out of curiosity what makes you think it is 1829 (circa)?
To be honest I have no idea how to date the coin.

1829 should be 6.46 gram and 26mm .
1831 is 6.13 gram and 23mm.
I assumed you can't be that wrong with the numbers :)

When I weighed it first time I got a weight of 7.1g on my digital scales. I weighed it again and it weighed 7g, I don't why I got the variation also the length of the coin as I measured it just now is 29mm

I think it might be circa 1995 - 1997 on the research I have done. In the East India Company the coin I think is like mine is the KM#53

Well, interesting indeed. I tend to trust my Krause catalog and it is consistent with what I say. Your source is definitely consistent with what you have in your hands.
On the other hand my 1701-1800 copy is 2nd edition and might become collectors object of ancient books by itself soon.

It is odd, I suppose that is why I had such problems finding it. Until I changed the date to 1795 I was hardly getting any results for 1797 piece of pice. I think most are rimmed mine must have worn away with age.
