I noticed this coin described as a "die break". Funny thing is...with all the dings and scratches in the fields and portrait--why is the "chip" so clean?

I'm no LMC expert, but I suspect it's a glob of bronze solder made to look like part of the coin--what do you think?

Is there something on the surface other than copper? Glue/sodier?

Being that the coin is circulated, I would think - if it was done at the mint, it would be worn down and dull. That looks awful shiny to me - Not something that looks 50 years old.

Yeah I think Coop is right, it looks almost transparent, unless my eyes are playing tricks - I've been up for nearly 24 hours...hehehehehe ☺
