I just found this site and it was very helpful:

http://www.pcgscurrency.com/g_scale.html

According to this standard I would rate this as a XF45. Anyone agree or disagree?

You have the advantage of having the note in hand, but from the photos I'd have to agree that it goes XF, with at least a possibility of AU. It may be that in hand you can see more wear and tear.

Nice note.

I sent out a feeler to Heritage Auction Galleries and they were very fast to respond. I will be listing this for sale again--if it doesn't sell here on the for sale board, I will sell it to Heritage Auction.

Inquiry Specifics
Your Consignment Director is: N/A,
You are inquiring about: Currency: US Currency
Brief Description: $50 1950E Star note
General Description: $50 1950E Star note
List of items or highlights: Serial number: G01299701*

Dear Mr. Galen White,

Thank you for your inquiry. The note you own looks to grade almost uncirculated as I can see a horizontal fold present. I would place a retail value
for this note at around $1000 - $1250. I appreciate your interest in Heritage Auction Galleries.

Respectfully,

Michael G. Moczalla

Mr. Moczalla,

Thank you for your quick reply. Would Heritage Auction Galleries be interested in purchasing this note? I would be happy to send it in so that it can be graded 'in hand'. I think you will find that the horizontal fold is an artifact from the scanner that I used.

Best regards,
Galen White

Dear Mr. White,

Yes, if you would like to send the note in for our offer, the best way to ship would be via US Registered Mail Insured for $1250. My address is H.A.G., Attn: Michael Moczalla, 3500 Maple Avenue, 17th Floor, Dallas, TX 75219. I will notify you once the note arrives and what our firm offer is after I see it.

Thanks again,

Mike

Good luck GW. I am waiting on some of my notes to come back from grading right now.

I love the way their last response was "I will notify you of what our firm offer is" Guess there will be no wiggle room for you.. :)
