used to squish them on RR tracks - sometimes hard to find afterwards...

Been there, done that. It does flatten them a lot more, but I don't have many railroad tracks near my house.

Anyway, here's the report.
On day one, at Hollywood Studios, we were waiting in a shop which had an automatic machine. Most of the machines were automatic, so all of these coins were done on them. I did the 2009-D on a hand-cranked machine, but that nearly obliterated the design (I couldn't find that coin as of this post). I was going to do the 1893 on the machine in the shop, but the only designs were Beauty and the Beast so I decided not to waste it there. Instead I used the rotten 2007-D. It got stuck and only fell through after the rollers stopped, so I put in another coin (1990-D) and 2 more quarters. They went in together, and this is what happened. Neither date is visible.

They had a quarter machine at the Tower of Terror, so I put in a clad 1967. The date is still visible.

I wasn't sure if I would find another, so I also did the 63-D. You can't see the date, but it still looks neat.

Later on that day, I did the 1893. Luckily, the date is still visible.

The next day, at Epcot, I did the 1950. This one looks great and is very long.

Lincoln-Cent-Durability-Testing,-2nd-Edition:-Elongated-Cents

I also did the 1973-S. The date is legible, but not the mintmark. I only just noticed that this is the same design as one of boristhespider88's.

Lincoln-Cent-Durability-Testing,-2nd-Edition:-Elongated-Cents

The machines looked like they had magnets, so I tried the 2002 P Canadian to test it before using the 43-D. Luckily, it works.

Lincoln-Cent-Durability-Testing,-2nd-Edition:-Elongated-Cents

Finally, on day three at Magic Kingdom, I did the 43-D. This one looks pretty good, and is longer than the Canadian.

Lincoln-Cent-Durability-Testing,-2nd-Edition:-Elongated-Cents

The last coin I did is probably the best looking. The Space Mountain ride had the only dime machine I could find, so I did the 42. I didn't get a chance to do a clad one, but this one looks pretty great.

I like the TestTrack's design! Great minds think alike? :)

I didn't see any machines other than the cents. Thanks for reporting and showing all the cool results! I was excited to see them and you did not disappoint!

I'm also happy with the results. I'm amazed at how well the dime worked in particular. I guess the circulation cameo really helped the design stay visible. Also, some design elements (like Lady Liberty's eye and the back of her head) which fell in the high points of the squisher's design were left undisturbed, as the coin failed to fill all of the devices.

I also thought about putting a dime in the cent flattener, but didn't get around to it. I know the Seattle Aquarium has some of these machines, as does the Space Needle, so I might try if I ever go back to either of those places.

Yeah, it's not bad. If you remember the ride, I got up to 104 power.

These are Awesome!

You have inspired me. I am going to the space needle next week and I have some dollar coins for the quarter machine they have there. I will also be doing some IHC and silver quarters, possible a SLQ and a Barber.

I will roll any coin at any time.

Years from now on a coin forum somebody will post that space mountain merc and say "who would do this to a Mercury dime?" Haha

That's the elongated spirit!

There are plenty of common circulated Indian Head cents and silver coins to go around for anyone who wants to collect them, so we exonumists might as well roll some of these old coins to make unique elongateds!

I once had Ray Dillard roll a Flying Eagle cent for me using his Flint Flying Eagle Coin Club design. That's one F.E. cent that'll never make it into a type set! I gotta dig that out sometime...

One piece of advice I would give to anyone doing this is to choose coins with a good deal of contrast between the devices and fields, like the merc.

Nice... agree on choosing coins with contrast, if you have more notice you can start saving the contrasty ones from circ (esp. pre 1982 copper) as 'blanks'.
