IMHO, they are all NCLTs and it is a matter of personal taste of which you may want to concentrate in. The Silver Roos are a product of the Royal Australian Mint and commenced in 1993 and is still on going. The Kookas and the Lunars are products of the Perth Mint. The Kookas were minted from 1990 and the silver lunars from 1999. Take note that there are various variations to all the above coins eg specimen strikes, proof condition, coin fair releases, gold gilded central devices etc....it would be advisable for you to buy a copy of Greg McDonalds " Guide to Australian Coins & Banknotes" if you are serious about our silver coins. As for where you can get them, Bigfella who is a member of this Forum is a dealer and maybe able to help you out. I am sure as the membership from downunder grows, there will also be other dealers among them who may be able to help you source whatever Aussie coins you are looking for.

For Most of the Silver Kangaroos life there has only been 2 versions a year, either a proof/coin fair issue and the frosted unc issue. Since 2003 they have made 3 versions available every year, proof, unc,unc gold plated. The silver kangaroos available only in 1 oz size with an average mintage of roughly 50 odd thousand, (70-30k is range), much lower than most other 1 oz coins. (2 million ASE's a year) The silver kookas come out in 30 or 40 sizes with about 2-300 odd different privy marks, sizes, colours etc, etc etc every year. So that rare privy mark Kooka with only 500 made is only slightly different to the 500,000 other versions made that year. However, if you can pick up Kookas for bullion, they are a very high quality coin with a high profile internationally.

I have been trying to find the article in CAB and will get it up when I find it but there is something else you should know about kookas-Roos/ASE's. The Kookas have exactly the amount of silver stated, varying by .0025 of a gram only, the ASE's actually contain 0.998 oz and silver roos have 1.01 oz silver. For all intents and puposes they are all one oz but be aware of the differences.
