The Mints here produce some of the most breath taking coins using a combination of two or three metals. Here is one of them in tri metal. The outer ring is of pure copper, the second ring is of 99.9 silver and the inner core is 99.99 solid gold. Mintage 5,000, current book value AUD$450.00 Edited by rggoodie 12/26/2005 8:33 pm

Photos, more photos of coins I DON"T have!!! Lim118 could you please post some photos of ugly coins once in a while? My want list will just about reach to Australia NOW!!! The 2002 dated coin would fit well into my little guys 2002 world birth year collection! Do you remember what that coin sold for at release? Or was this one of Australia's "subscription" issues? Just curious as I intend to WATCH those release dates from here on out. I might mention I DID break down and order two of the Liberia "Titanic" oblong silver coins with the piece of Titanic coal embedded in the coin. Just the thought of how long that coal laid on the bottom of the ocean and now it is resting in a commemorative tribute to the ship kept eating at me until I finally couldn't resist. They are a very limited edition so I got suckered in on this one! Also bought my FIRST silver Kangaroo at the same time! Finally a ROO in Indiana!

Could not resist posting this one...IMHO, a real sculpture of art in silver and gold...the Centenary of Federation Bi Metal Proof Coin. The reverse depicts the Australian Coat of Arms, laid on a bed of golden wattle, the national floral emblem of Australia. This central gold insert is surrounded with the floral emblems of the individual States and Territories. Mintage of 10,000 Central Core: 99.99 solid gold with a weight of .285 oz. Outer ring: 99.9 Silver with a weight of .346 oz. Has been selling on ebay at around the AUD$250 to AUD$300 range.

Nice coin, but what's that funny country in the center of it- can't be OZ- Oz is connected to NZ by a bridge. or is it in Europe- Sorry been reading the wrong Geography books By the way $600 is about 1/3 the price of a ticket home- never mind - I'd rather have the coin.

Hey RG...didn't you know !!! The bridge has been demolished now that we have opened the Trans Tasman Tunnel. Talks at very senior levels are now taking place to link the two currencies. Perhaps we might even get a commemorative issue with this historical event...

Since you already posted the picture, Here are the flowers, but I an not positive about the order- That's what happens when you don't cheat ACT - 'Canberra Rose' (rose) NSW - flannel flower Federation Stars QLD - everlasting daisy (Bracteantha Hybrid) NT - pink ginger 'Federation Lady' (Alpinia purpurata) SA - thryptomene 'Centenary Starburst' (Thryptomene ericaea) TAS - St Helens wax flower (Phebalium daviesii) VIC - red-flowered wattle 'Scarlet Flame' (Acacia leprosa) WA - kangaroo paw 'Kings Park Federation Flame' (Anigozanthos rufus) Please correct the order

Picture of the states or flowers? does Hutt River and Alantium count? I could post a picture of me It is the Famous STATE OF CONFUSION The onkly reason I knew the flowers is because of the gardening my wife does and she tried to grow one of each variety - I said tried- she has a brown thumb

So there are 8 states in Australia? How about adding Indiana as the 9th? Seeing how we are so involved with your economy at the present time and to think, NO more dead presidents on our coins if we turn to your system and issue Australian coin and currency over here! Boy wouldn't that be something!
lim118 I might add that it is VERY PAINFUL having to scroll down through all those photos to get here!!! The first coin is absolutely amazing!

Geography time Australia has Six States NSW - New south Wales QLD - Queensland NT - Northern Territory) SA - South Australia TAS - Tasmania VIC - Victoria WA - Western Australia ACT - Australian Capital Territory is similar to the District of Columbia. It is the Australian capital and is its own sovereign area. Just Like Washington DC. It is located just aout halfway between Sydney N.S.W., and Melbourne, Vic The only other state that Australia is lookin to adopt is the Unattached Suburb of Australia and having lived in hoosier land for a while I believe that includes you.
