One just doesn't expect to see this after the fact. Does PCGS keep any type of photographic proof of the condition of a coin at the time it was graded. I imagine that would be practically impossible.
What does everyone think PCGS would do if the coin were sent back to them ?
This is somewhat disturbing, considering I would imagine This did not happen at PCGS, or did it ? Are the slabs easy to open, or do you pretty much destroy them if you attempt to open them. They should not be easy to open. This is a perfect example of why. Someone could easily exchange a coin and retain the original. Please assure me this is not that easy to accomplish !
If this in fact this somehow is deceptive, MY faith in PCGS or NGC, ANACS, just took a HUGE hit.

Dan, I don't buy slabbed coins, but if the brief time I have been looking at them, I've seen mislabeled, misgraded, an improperly attributed coins, I've seem several people go e the advice "buy the coin not the slab" and that is probably good advice.

This is somewhat disturbing. I thought those Grading Services were the one solid player in coin collecting. I never even imagined a possibility of tampering with them.

This coin would have never been slabbed by PCGS with that corrosion spot that large. Chances are it was just a speck. Just shows that slabs are not air tight so the coins may change over time.
