Second, can you please remove this cent from the 2x2 and take a nice close-up image of this linear region? I can't tell for sure on your piece whether this is a die crack or scratch. Looks like a scratched that has piled up metal along side it - BUT - a scratch that deep to push metal would show the silver zinc which this doesn't. A more clear picture (S) sure would help. If you zoom in on the picture at the rim and look closely between IN you can see where metal has been displaced and pulled inwards. I believe this would rule out a die crack. Edit: If someone were the intentionally scratch it that deeply, it would take a lot of careful control to stop before hitting the rim at the end without changing the depth or amount of pressure used to create the scratch Collecting since 1972.
