Hello, I'm curious on this one. On the obv. and rev. there are little round dots all around, There's a die crack on the forehead like one of the 2007 dd's! Also on the obv, See the chip or crack in the hair, similar to the 2006!
On the rev, on the upper lst column there is a die chip or whatever, I have quite a few of 2007's with it! Any ideas?
They are all part of die aging. Because the coins are from different years and look similar mean nothing other than the fact the dies go through the same aging process when certain events happen to them. Wear/cracks/chips/breaks/die gouges/die dots/excessive cleanings/clashes happen to the dies. Just a fact of life for them. Seems like the crack on the forehead happens to many years. It doesn't mean the dies were reused, just the same thing happening because the dies all do the same job, crack from different events, suffer the same clashes over and over. Dies after they are used are defaced and discarded. Hope this helps.
I think what Coop is trying to convey is that since all the dies had the same design, they also have the same weaknesses. Given that, they are likely to crack in the same spots. That's all.
