afraid the photos are too overmagnified to be sure what's going on, my guess is some type of post minting damage

Plated cents did not start until 1982. Your title should read 1968-D cent. Congrats on 50 post ,contest time

No need for more pictures really.

It's a damaged 1968 penny.

As has been said, pennies were not zinc plated copper until 1982 so yours cannot have a plating blister.

Anything suspect before to 82 will more often be die chips. Not blisters.(noted ty) If in fact thoe are die chips on the date,maybe, are you sure you would not like aclearer date photo?

New photos. Trying to show gradual slope in field, in front of Lincoln, downward to the date, which is not prominent. Interior cud in front of jacket. Like a glacier.
