1943D 5c Jefferson MS with a long 9 mm strike thru on the rev. (If not for the strike thru, I believe this would be a "Full Steps" coin.)

I recently started looking over nickels thanks to some posts here.

One coin that caught my eye looked like a large scratch at first but after looking at the seller's images more closely I realized it was a strike thru (his images are pretty clear and allow them to be enlarged while viewing, which is why I visit his place).

It's not a super high-grade coin (might reach Gem) but I like it because of the strike thru especially with the clear steps.

Also, it has a strong die crack going from K12 south onto the dome which I was able to see go all the way to the rim @ K6, but I was unable to get clear images of it.
I find it interesting that the die started to fail (the fairly strong die crack) before Die Deterioration set in (the nice clear steps).

Anyways, enjoy, and let me know your thoughts on the Full Steps or grade if you feel so inclined.
Thanks.

nice one, concur on the struck thru and die crack

War Nickels make for an interesting short series, all dates and mint marks can still be found in circulation, they have precious metal content, and for an added challenge there are a whole bunch of RPMs, made easier to see by the big mint marks.

Nice coin, and nice pics of the strike through. Is there also a horizontal crack or linear lam on the dome itself?

Thanks for adding some comments.

You're right Nick, they are a short but interesting series with lots to look for from the laminations, to die cracks, to the larger MM's.

Thanks, Zurie. when I tilt the phone it self adjusts and can pick up some nice details. Yep, the die crack on the dome is sort of a backwards "Z" shape. Zigas left, then zags right, then south.

Thanks, Dearborn. It made my day.
