Best Way To Store Proofs? - Coin Community Forum

Hondo Pillar of the Community United States 1211 Posts	Posted 12/27/2010 10:42 pm I am collecting current quarters and Presidential dollars. I love having all my coins together, but I am debating the best way to handle my proofs. Should I break them out of their original packaging and put them into an album with the others? Or, is it better to just get a PD album and keep the proofs together in their original packaging? What do others do? Thanks! Report this Post to the Staff

jgfindring Rest in Peace United States 1380 Posts	Posted 12/27/2010 11:16 pm I do both, I buy two proof sets each year, break one up to put the individual proof coins in albums with the P and D mint coins, and keep one proof set complete. Report this Post to the Staff

Best way to store them is in a cool, dry, dark place. I would opt for the original mint containers versus an album, but the best way to store them is in third party grading slabs. Granted, the expense outweighs the value, but that is the most protective way, and if you don't plan to try profiting from them any time soon, there you go. Report this Post to the Staff
Billie Pillar of the Community United States 593 Posts	Posted 12/28/2010 09:47 am Whether in albums or orig. packaging. Place in ziplock bag with desiccant for storage, 2-1/2 gallon for multiple / large albums. Keeps out moisture, dust, hair etc. Report this Post to the Staff
