Hello there! Help me grade this coin! I've also written in my excel-list that this is a Type II.. Can someone confirm that? :)   Sorry for slightly unfocused picture, but I hope it's good enough. Thanks! |

It's a type II which is a little more rare than type 1. The last feather falls between "CA" while the type I last feather falls between the "IC." As for grade, I would say at least F-15 with a possibility of VF-20.

Okay, thanks for the confirmation. I've set this as a VF with a CV of 90$. However I know my grading skills are very poor and I didn't spend more than 10 seconds on each coin while grading them in my Excel-list..

This is not a VF coin. VF requires the base of the headband to be complete. I'd say F-15

I compared it to PCGS/NGC F15 and VF20 Indians I have. This one seems to fall in the middle.

Hi. F15 is how I would grade this coin and it is a type 2. Just a couple of days ago I was looking through a large bin of IHC that were all priced 2 dollars each. Bought 7 and the only charged $7. One of them happened to be this coin but my was only VG |

 with VF20. By Rick Snow's grading standards, a VF is defined by a visible headband border underneath an completely legible LIBERTY. I consider the headband complete enough, as other details appear consistent with VF such as the feathers, the hair/ribbon boundary, the denticle/rim boundary, and the reverse bow. It's also the "Type 2" obverse, which continues to the end of the IHC series. Edited by DVCollector

F-15: 5
F-20: 3
In between: 2
My conclusion: F-17 ;)

Wow, I must be a very hard grader. VG 10 for me. More than 3 letters in LIBERTY, but the letters are not complete. To me, F 12 would need all letters complete. The B and the E just don't cut it for me. Grading is just an opinion though.

It was a hot summer and having that thingy on your head must've been sweaty, so ofcourse B and E would be a bit smeered out after some hundred years ;)
