Just honing my grading skills such as they may be. This one caught my attention on nuther forum. They had graded this raw coin as AU53-55. My best guestestimate is strong MS64+. Obverse has a die crack between 6 and 7 o'clock near the denticles so maybe a VAM of some type? Reverse has couple dings on the rim but the fields are almost clear and the breast shows just moderate wear. What's your opinion? Do the dings lower the grade?

Based on the photo, I think it is MS but I would hold the grade back to MS-62 due to weaker strike (there are many well struck 86-P's) and flat luster

I'd say MS-62.

There is some light rub and several of the high spots, I would give it a grade of AU-58.

I'm saying AU, also. Light wear on high points (MAYBE soft strike?) and small rim nicks. And maybe the lack of luster is due to a light cleaning at some point? Seeing it in-hand is always preferable. I noticed how far the date is, also.

Definitely won't make Choice BU I think you have a shot at the lower MS grades, however. Many slabbed 61/62 MS coins look just like this one.

Flatness on the right wingtip, for example, is super common.
