1845-O Seated Half Question - Coin Community Forum

weerdsteev Pillar of the Community United States 1291 Posts	Posted 10/13/2013 6:42 pm I just obtained this half and as I posted a photo of it in another thread that I initiated, I noticed something odd about the date. I thought that I might have some sort of rare doubled or re-struck date, but as I looked around on ebay for some other examples it seems that this is relatively common for this year. About half the examples I found have it and about half don't. I am a total newbie in the world of Seated halves. Can someone enlighten me? Also - is this an example of with or without drapery at the elbow? Report this Post to the Staff

I couldn't figure it out from my Red Book but then realized I was looking at the wrong elbow. Okay...so I answered THAT question. Still need to know about the date. Report this Post to the Staff
biokemist6 Bedrock of the Community United States 12437 Posts	Posted 10/13/2013 11:33 pm It is cataloged as WB-108 Doubled Date. In late die states, there is no drapery, weak foot support, and the recutting on 18 disappears as a result of die polishing. WB-108 is the second-most common of the nine 1845-O varieties.
