This coin has a hard punch mark which has made the States & *OF* which have been squashed and half obscure. A Close AM mark Does this make this coin desirable or simply a mis-stamp that occurs frequently. Many thanks for looking

with John. This is a known weak spot on all the Lincoln cents. If the planchet is a little light, or a little low pressure. The shoulder takes so much metal to fill up, it takes it away from the reverse in that spot. You will see it in both wheat and memorial cents.
The difference between a Struck Through Grease and a weaker set of letters on that area is these images: Your coin is showing the stronger tops of the devices were the strike either didn't have enough metal, or too much was moved to the obverse and that area suffered the lost of metal. Not a grease issue on this one.
