Uhti Tuhti New Member United Kingdom 2 Posts	Posted 05/04/2011 09:16 am I haven't been able to find this exact coin in A.Marsh catalogue; it has a stamp on the front 'mrim'? and I'm curious to know how much it could be worth. Sap Moderator Australia 16884 Posts	Posted 05/04/2011 10:31 am It's my understanding that a stamp like that means that this coin is a Middle-eastern jewellery copy of a sovereign, and not a genuine sovereign. Especially since the stamp seems to be part of the actual design transferred from the die, rather than a counterstamp. I believe the mark reads M21M, with the "21" in Arabic numerals most likely indicating 21k gold. It's still solid gold, but not a genuine coin, and if it really is 21k, worth slightly less than a genuine sovereign (22k). Can we see the other side? What's the date and mintmark? Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis Report this Post to the Staff
