mikelley Valued Member United States 80 Posts	Posted 03/05/2012 08:11 am MathieuMa. I found in my Calico that there were some silver reals minted in Santo Domingo- a 10, 4, 2, 1, and 1/2 reals. Also copper 4 and 2 maravedis. I believe I have some of the copper pieces and will post them when I receive my USB microscope. They are very corroded and possibly not SD. I was just wondering in which order settlements did open their mint. From what I remember on history, I think Santo Domingo was the first place inhabited by spanish settlers ... I love reading about this period, but I think I'll need a real history book to figure all this out ... and I'll need to find a special one about this period, as a generic history class book is usually too short on details. (Gary Jennings tought me a lot - although it was more on the incas side) Report this Post to the Staff
