Check me in to Ancient Roman Coinaholics Anonymous please! Trying to keep from buying for a while (the next coin show in a couple of weeks isn't going to help lol), but ended up purchasing this guy, a Valentinian II AE2 from Antioch (I don't have Val II nor an Antioch coin yet, so double milestone for me again ). I have it attributed as Antioch RIC 63b.
Obv: D N VALENTINIANVS P F AVG, emperor rosette-diademed, draped & cuirassed bust right
Rev: VIRTVS EXERCITI, emperor standing right holding standard & globe, left foot on seated captive, ANTG in exergue

BTW, is it just me, or does it look like Valentinian on the reverse have a robotic looking lower body (especially the legs)?

Very nice pick up. We should all go into group therapy together! I have a Val I and Val II but no Val III. I almost bid on one earlier today, but the coin was not readable so I passed. I may be sorry, but I want coins I can attribute. Anyway, your coin is in great shape and yes, I think he has robotic legs, but I'm not commenting on the entire lower body

My Vals II and III are AE4's, it's nice to see a larger AE2. Nice looking coin.

I don't think the captive is too happy being stepped on by clawed robot feet lol

A very nice coin in hand, especially the reverse. I was pretty much astounded at how good it looked!

Ah now I see why his lower half looks awkward compared to the rest of his body: his upper half is shifted to the right a bit. I hope you guys see what I am talking about Some sort of error or variety?
