Since we have been talking about provincials lately thought I would post another one of mine. This coin is from Deultum Thrace and is of emperor Maximinus I, 235-238 AD. Obverse: IMP MAXIMINVS PIVS AVG. Reverse: COL F L PAC DEVLT. Though a bit hard to see because it's very dark, the reverse depict a galley under full sail. One of my favorite reverses and my only galley. Moushmov #3648A.

Nice! I don't think I've seen a coin with the galley under sail before.

There are not many around. This was in an uncleaned lot, it was very crusty and took me a long time to clean. I was thrilled when it turned out to have a galley reverse.

It's very hard material that I don't want to take a chance digging at for fear of ruining the coin..

Nice coin echizento

I really like galley coins. I wanted to put together a little group of them but it seems that most are pretty expensive, for me anyway.

Ones with a sail are really nice.

I would love to have more of them, but as you say they are very expensive. The one I would most like to find is the Allectus galley.
