It is a far leaf,never was, or could be a near leaf.The leaf did not change positions for the near leaf reverse,the rims are thicker making the leaf closer to the denticles.If all those years ago these varieties had been named "narrow rim" and "wide rim" a lot of collector confusion would have been avoided."Far leaf" and "near leaf" give the impression that the leaf changed positions,but its position was not changed from one reverse to the other.
The leaf did not move closer to the denticles,the denticles moved closer to the leaf.
