I think well see more of an uptick here at the end with the mintage not out of control. Probably see a lot of people who just ordered 1 regardless pick up some extras and then the people waiting to see what it would be finally order seeing that its reasonable

CH, don't you have to order more than two sets to get free s&h? That's a few cents shy of $300. Cheers--

I tossed this around quite a bit figuring what to order. With the 2011 annie sets, 5 sets was not enough to achieve to pure 70 grade sets, I had to make a trade to achieve that goal. First, I was going to order 5 of these, then ten, well I figured 5 was not enough to get two good perfect sets, so I went with 7, hoping maybe I'll get lucky this time. Now, I won't even know until probably about November, but will be upset IF I end up getting shipped returns/rejects from the big boys, and if that is the case I will have learned my lesson and will never do business with the U.S. Mint ever again.

Quote: But in all likelyhood the TPGs would want that since its 10-15 more for that on the label. With this set Early Release is automatic and included in the NGC $18 submission fee PCGS is charging $18 in addition to the fee for grading JUST for the FS designation...

Clint, I just include a token item to get me over the $300 mark. I can always use the fancy mint cases, 1.5 inch medal case fits raw silver dollars. Even adding a 2012-W proof is reasonable, I can never have too many. The mint is selling them for $60 and common date ones retail for $70 to $80 so they are an easy purchase.
Looks like we might be into a third striking, last night's order came with an October 31 ship date. Looks like I might have three sets that are FS eligible (two in one box and a loner) and the rest won't be (so I may wait and open those when they come). I don't slab my coins so I don't care about ER labels but by keeping some coins in mint sealed boxes, they might be worth more if I ever need to sell them. I only ordered one set back in 2006 ($100 meant a lot more to me then) but I am sitting on four unopened 2011 sets, each in it's own box.

Total units ordered now at 245,131. Will be interesting to see if this goes over 300,000 or not.

Sorry about that, I don't like it too. Perhaps a big chunk of the increase is coming from dealers? Maybe some people will consider reducing their orders, thinking not much of a premium will come from this set.

Yep that makes me ok with canceling a few of my sets. I am on the hook for 3 right now. Two in on box to be sent to PCGS, one in a single box that I will be keeping sealed. I was just hoping the mintage stayed under 250k.

It won't be under 250K, but considering that demand for the 2006 set was 248K+, it hasn't increased much even with the increased interest generated by the 2011 set. If the number is captured shortly before posting then there is only 26 or 27 hours left (the number may well be captured just before 3PM ET, just like the day's shipping tally is). This is exactly the kind of run-up I was expecting, with the last few days each being 1.5 to 2 times the day before. That could mean another 50K for the final tally, leaving it just short of 300K. It certainly looks like it won't go much over 300K even if it reaches that number. I doubt that many of the large dealers are ordering extra sets, they can't get FS or ER labels for ones ordered now, with an expected ship at the end of October. Small shops may well be ordering for inventory. Once the sales are final and the ending number released, we may well see some cancelling that will show up in either next Tuesday's sales report or the one after that. A lot will depend on pre-orders for graded sets. The mint won't have a true final mintage until after all units have shipped and the return period expires, perhaps as late as December.
The only thing I am debating now is whether to bump my buy from five to seven sets or not. The first five are for the family stash, the next two would either be gifts or used as trade.

I would consider the $1400 a 20th Annie NGC70 set is presently getting a wee bit of interest. If this does half as good I would be satisfied...but that's just me I guess
