What's A Good Price For An Athenian Tetradrachm?

einhard Valued Member Ireland 86 Posts	Posted 09/05/2012 8:17 pm Hi all, At some stage over the next 12 months I want to purchase a good quality Athenian Tetradrachm. I think they're a beautiful looking coin, and so quirky and endearing too. I've been scouting around a bit online, and so far the price has been very high for what I wouldn't have considered good quality (in fairness, it's been a pretty cursory search). I was wondering if I could get some guidance here on what's a good price for a decent coin. I don't mind particularly if it's an older style or a later one. Thanks. Report this Post to the Staff

Dionysos Valued Member Canada 472 Posts	Posted 09/05/2012 8:36 pm It depends (grade, style, test cut(s), surface, period,...). You can expect to pay anything between 100 and 10000$ I'd say. Not a rare coin overall, but always sought for. Usually, for higher grade/better coin/most affordable, you should go with the New Style tets IMO () Report this Post to the Staff
