Picked up this 1953-S Franklin half to fill that nagging hole in my Library of Coins. Have slabbed MS-64 and MS-65 specimens, but couldn't bring myself to crack them out.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

A beautiful specimen. If only it had FBL - this is the hardest date to get with full bell lines!

Quote: Franklin proofs always have FBL, right? Yeah, but the coin in question is a San Francisco mint issue and Franklin half dollar proofs were struck only in Philadelphia.

4 AU Morgans (details cleaning), an 1853 quarter (badly mangled), four Canadian dimes (one George VI) and a quarter, a French half franc, 19th century Mexican 25 and 10 centavos (badly worn), and an 1881 German mark for $135. The 1878s Morgan is the prettiest 1878 I have ever owned.

I need a new scanner. Phone photos are not worth considering.

60 Canadian silver dollars, at $2 over melt total. Good value in my book.
