Quote: I don't know if this is against the rules but if you're interested in selling it.... I'm a buyer Kevin R, you are not allowed to sell on CCF until you have 250 a posts. ebay would be the best option for a quick sale.....or if you plan on sticking around you can sell it later.

I'm surprised it's as round as it is, given how misshapen SPP's recent quarter-on-penny-planchet was. Still, I agree with jg86. Looks like a nickel struck on a penny planchet. Awesome find!

From those pictures I agree that it looks like a nickel struck on cent planchet. Many coins struck on planchets that are only slightly smaller than their normal planchets won't often show much irregularity in shape. Quarters struck on nickel and cent planchets are very different. This is a great find! I have no idea as to the value, though.

Could there also be a possiblity that it is struck on a foreign planchet? A weight would clear this up quickly. I know the RCM often strikes coins for other countries, but I don't have the specific dates and types.

This does appear to be struck on a one cent planchet. I have a 1992 nickel that is the same. On ebay you could fetch as much as $500 for your coin. Nice coin and nice find! Let us know what you plan on doing with it!

Looks legit. It is a 5 cent struck on a copper-plated zinc 1-cent planchet. Very nice coin, quite desirable amongst error collectors of both series. This coin WILL get lots of attention. Throw it on ebay and start the bidding at 99-cents, I think you will be pleasantly surprised when the hammer comes down...
