Hi, I have coin 1 from a set of 5 coins in 1/4 euro value in silver that is in a blister pack. My question is does anyone know anything about no's 2-5 as I can't find them anywhere. There were issued by Monnaie de Paris. Now I can see they did the same set in boxes not blister packs in 1 1/2 euros value silver too and that they were a bit of a flop and got sold off to the Germans at a 20% discount. But its not the boxed larger value ones I am after as there are loads on ebay. I want the blister pack ones in card and think the other 4 would be sprint ; time trial ; mountain stages , the other one escapes me for now. Did they make the other 4 or drop them as a flop as don not seem to exist despite coin 1 stating in French and English that it is no 1 of 5. Help. Look forward responses, would also be interested to buy them.

Are you sure they are 1/4 Euro ?

I've seen several different silver 1 1/2 Euro coins of 2003 and also a gold 20 Euro depicting cyclists.

Yes, part of that series was a quarter euro silver coin - the one that Phil posted. The other four (last one would be the final in Paris) were only issued in higher denominations: €1.50 (silver) and €20 (gold). There were €10 and €50 gold pieces too, but these two had just that one (cyclist 1903/2003) design again ...

thanks for that, yes last one in set is Champe Elysee but on back of 1/4 blister it reads its no 1 of 5 for this denomination so implies the other 4 exist as there are 5 in 1 1/2 euros and they come boxed instead.

Hmm, I see the part about that issue being the first in a series of five. But I think that means five different designs, not necessarily that they all are 1/4 euro pieces. Only the 1 1/2 euro and 20 euro issues had all five designs; the others (1/4 euro, 10 euro, 50 euro) just come in that "first design". By the way, the mintage figure refers to the authorized maximum mintage; the actual mintage of this quarter euro was about 71,000 coins.
