What is the safest and easiest way to remove a coin from a slab?

Are certain slabs easier to remove from the coin than others?

What tools, etc are needed?

Thanks.

I just wedge a pointy knife into the side and wiggle it around. That breaks the seal and then you can move the knife around the edges to finish it off. I recommend using a microfiber cloth or similar to gently pop the coins onto.

I have a big tool that is like a large pair of pliers - more like shears - with a hammerhead that has a sharp edge. I don't know what this tool is called, but I bought it on ebay where it was called, fittingly, a "slab cracker."

I have found NGC holders to be the most trouble.

I use both a dremel tool and a pair of whatyoucallems that stephen described because my wife doesn't like the smell that the dremel makes when melting the plastic and I got mine from home depot for about 5 bucks if I remember correctly

I use my bench grinder and grind the edge of the slab on all four side to where it is sealed ,,the slab lifts apart with no force required .

In a pinch...I have had great success with a small hammer on the driveway...tap tap tap and it will separate.
