Is This A Retained Strike Through? - Coin Community Forum

Jorgy Valued Member United States 145 Posts	Posted 08/27/2007 5:53 pm Looks like it was possibly struck through some copper plating that my have come loose from a different coin. It is the same color as the coin and doesn't look like a lamination of the coin itself. What do you all think? Report this Post to the Staff

Amazon - 99% of the time a lamination will look "torn" out of the coin or torn and replaced. They almost never have glob-like rounded edges that look like something molten fell on the coin. This is almost always going to be something struck into the coin...which is why I answered like I did. Now...worth...probably not a heck of a lot since these things do appear once in a while. I would say absolutely no more than $10, probably less than that. Report this Post to the Staff
