I just wanted to share my latest delivery from the postie: a lovely desert patina and a huge one!! Justinian I, AE follis, 538-539A.D. Year 12. Cyzicus, 21.3g, 41.0mm, DA 170°. Obv. D N IVSTINIANVS PP AVG, helmeted and cuirassed bust facing, holding globus cruciger and shield, to r. cross; Rev. Large M, cross above, ANNO l., regnal year XII r., B (off. 2) below, KYZ in exe. That's quite a pleasing sand patina on your coin. Its one of the must have ancient *cough* medieval coins.  |

Very very nice! These big Justinians feel great in the hand. I have a similar one: AE 40 Nummi, 538-539, Constantinople, 42.5mm, 23.28g, 180°, MIBE 95a; SB 163. Obv: D N IVSTINI ANVS P P AVG, helmeted and cuirassed bust facing, holding globus cruciger and shield with figure on horseback; cross to right Rev: Large M, ANNO to left, cross above, XII to right, B below; CON in ex.  |
