It could be a Dryer Coin. When a coin gets stuck at the back of a dryer drum and rolls around on it rim cycle after cycle, after cycle, after cycle, etc, etc.

a dryer or spooned coin would have reasonably sharp rims.
personally I would think it is something else. could be spooned as there is more control of what to do.

Guess it gave them something to do, would think the finished product would be less smooth.

Always thought that a die might have been plugged or impaired in some way.
