I'm a total beginner with coins; the only reason I'm even looking for interesting coins is because I work retail and I see alot of coins daily.

I spotted this toady and grabbed it because I've never seen a quarter with no reeding on it. Seems the same size as my other quarters, and doesn't seem to be worn down too much, just usual wear from circulation.

My other 2000's all seem to be reeded, and all the info I could find online said they are reeded as well, but the pictures I did find made it difficult to tell if they had reeding or not.

Are there 2000's without reeding?

Thx in advance.

Not a known variety. The most common cause for this is repeated use in slot machine or other such device. Less common is Dryer Coin or spooned coin, descriptions for these can be found by a search of this site.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

Can you post a picture of the coin, the edge also? That could give us in idea of the reason.

Here is the tutorial about uploading and posting images

Sorry for the crappy shots, I only have my phone to take pictures. And I guess I should have taken a shot of the actual face of the coin too but I forgot to do that, if anyone wants to see that I can do that when I get home.

It could be a Dryer Coin. When a coin gets stuck at the back of a dryer drum and rolls around on it rim cycle after cycle, after cycle, after cycle, etc, etc.

Thats the consensus then, a coin that was stuck in a dryer?

It's more likely a "casino coin" as DBM says. Back in the early 2000's there were articles in the Canadian Coin News about this phenomena. I think there was even an RCMP investigation, as there was some concern the reedless coins could have been counterfeits. (It's just heavily worn.)
