I'm Rod and I just registered. I collect Morgan silver dollar varieties and am a member of VAMWorld and the Society of Silver Dollar Collectors. I started collecting coins as a youngster; off and on for more than fifty years. It wasn't until recently that I began collecting Morgan varieties.
My main concern at this time is how to take good clear photos of Morgan dollars for variety identification purposes. With that in mind, I'm going to need some help with camera-related matters.
I look forward to participating on the Coin Community Forum.
to CCF Rod. There are a couple of CCF members who really know their stuff when it comes to coin photography. (Ray and Ddave) What is your current photography set up?
All I have is a five foot tripod for my D90 Nikon and I use a desk tripod for my point and shoot. For both cameras, I shoot straight down at the coin. My son made me a light box, but I haven't had much look with that either.
