rocky Pillar of the Community Canada 2784 Posts	Posted 07/25/2015 3:59 pm my son was out doing some metal detecting. he found a 1903 king Edwards the VII penny in some granular soil. if it were you would you clean this coin or leave it as is? Report this Post to the Staff

chwkboy Valued Member Canada 118 Posts	Posted 07/31/2015 12:36 am Whenever I find a copper coin while metal detecting, I use penetrating oil. I get a plastic container put a couple of inches of oil in and drop the coin in for a few weeks and then use soft toothbrush to clean off whatever is left. DO NOT rub the dirt on the coin, this will just add scratches to it. Report this Post to the Staff
