Is This Alexander Tetradrachm Legit ? [ebay]

Looks good, but it doesn't really matter. Once a coin is squeezed into a wrapped bezel the edges will forever show that damage and greatly reduce the coins numismatic value.

Perhaps you could show your mom a $5.00 gold half eagle? You can find those in bezels for very close to spot price and because it is gold it will always retain its gold value, even in a bezel.

Thanks for the welcome. The story behind this is that my mom used to have a somewhat similar one when she was young and so that's why I really wanted something like this. It's no problem that the coin is damaged on the edge.

Something is off here.

Weight shouldn't be 4.3 grams for a tetradrachm, maybe a drachm. Should be closer to 17 grams for a tetradrachm.

If it is a drachm, then perhaps it is real. Drachm are roughly 4.3 grams and 17mm diameter.

Unless that gold bezel is nearly a half ounce of gold, I'd run from this on price alone before even bothering to look around on wildwinds for a matching coin to check authenticity.

The coin can be had for $50 - $150. The gold isn't worth the bump to $600.

Run away, run away fast and don't look back.

I wouldn't pay more than $50 plus gold melt value myself.

As for authenticity, I have no opinion but would comment that Bulgaria is known for a lot of ancient coin fakes.
